Betting and gaming product development specialist The Unit has recruited former FanDuel executive Fiona Power as its new chief commercial officer (CCO).
Power, who is based in New York, will join the firm on a contract basis and work alongside co-founder Paddy Casey and chief revenue officer Mark O’Hare.
Her new remit will include commercial strategy, market analysis, strategic partnerships and supporting the continued growth of The Unit’s international client base.
Power boasts more than 12 years of experience at Flutter Entertainment and has held senior leadership roles at FanDuel since swapping Dublin for New Jersey in 2018.
During her time as senior director of partner relations at FanDuel, she worked on multi-state partnership agreements and played a key role in the launch of more than 20 retail sportsbooks across the US.
A Power move
Alongside her new responsibilities, Power will continue to run Power Room Éire Partnerships & Advisory, a consultancy focused on market entry, strategic partnerships and operational execution across gaming and sports betting.
“I’ve known The Unit and its reputation in the industry for some time, and I’ve been very impressed by the growth of the business and the high quality of its output,” said Power.
“There is a real depth of betting and gaming expertise across its hubs in Europe and the US, combined with a strong track record for solving complex challenges for operators.
“I’m excited to work alongside Paddy, Mark and the wider team to build on that foundation,” she added.
Casey, who co-founded The Unit in 2017, said Power’s experience in the US market would be particularly valuable as The Unit continues to scale internationally.
International expansion
“Fiona brings a truly exceptional combination of commercial experience, industry knowledge and a deep understanding of the US gaming market,” he said.
“She has spent more than a decade building partnerships and delivering complex projects in one of the most competitive and highly regulated markets in the world, and that experience will be incredibly valuable as we continue to grow.”
The appointment comes during a period of growth for The Unit, which has gone from 75 staff to more than 140 employees across Ireland, Moldova, Gibraltar and the US.
The company, which supplies engineering, mobile development, AI modules, Web3 smart contracts and UI/UX design, recently expanded its development operations in Chi?inau, Moldova, by moving into a new 500 square metre technology hub.
