Jacobs is set to take over the role from Michael Rumbolz, former chairman and CEO of Everi, who has held the position since January 2024.
The appointment marks a notable leadership transition for the national trade group at a time of sustained commercial expansion and regulatory activity across the US gaming landscape.
Jacobs, a graduate of Harvard University, said the role carries significant responsibility, noting that the AGA continues to guide an industry with substantial economic influence.
He expressed enthusiasm for working with AGA president and CEO Bill Miller and the board, to help ensure that the legal gaming sector remains positioned to support jobs, tax revenue and broader community investment.
His comments reflected the association’s ongoing focus on advocacy, industry standards and coordinated policy engagement.
In his position at Delaware North, Jacobs oversees a wide network of operating subsidiaries in hospitality, entertainment and gaming.
The company’s portfolio includes regional casino properties, gaming and hospitality destinations, and digital operations in sports betting and iGaming across several US jurisdictions.
Varied background to drive AGA success
Jacobs’ remit spans strategic growth initiatives, financial management and corporate governance, giving him a broad view of the operational and regulatory factors that shape the gaming ecosystem.
This background was a key factor in the board’s decision to elect him as chairman.
Miller described Jacobs as a leader with extensive insight into both the commercial and policy sides of gaming.
He noted that Jacobs has been an active member of the AGA board and brings experience that will support the association’s efforts to strengthen regulatory frameworks.
It will also allow the AGA to expand responsible gaming initiatives and advance collective priorities for operators, suppliers and stakeholders.
Under Rumbolz’s leadership, the AGA achieved several policy gains at federal and state levels, expanded its responsible gaming programmes, and increased its focus on combating illegal gambling.
Miller acknowledged Rumbolz’s contribution, citing his steady approach during a period marked by market expansion, evolving state regulations and greater public scrutiny of gaming operations.
Jacobs maintains a range of commitments beyond his corporate responsibilities.
Notably, he serves on the board of FeedMore WNY, where he chairs a capital campaign aimed at expanding services to address food insecurity in Western New York.
